Build Public Support for Bamboo. Government has been a crucial force in accelerating agricultural change in the United States and across the world. It can help bamboo as well. Programs like loan-guarantees, low-interest loans, farm-subsidies, agriculture research programs and grants could help jumpstart the sustainable bamboo movement by easing the start up costs farmers would bear in transitioning from existing crops to bamboo. Create A Place for Bamboo in the Carbon Markets. Bamboo is one of the most reliable and effective carbon sequestration crops on the planet. The United Nations recognizes bamboo’s role as a crucial carbon offset, but methodologies to count bamboo’s many benefits have not been developed. Bamboo Now! is committed to developing these and advocating for their usage in regulated carbon markets around the world. Establish Sustainable Bamboo Harvesting. The soaring worldwide demand for bamboo threatens to crush this precious resource. According to the UN, more than half the world’s bamboo species are currently endangered or extinct. While the plant is prolific, poor management practices and short-term thinking have lead to loss of critical habitat worldwide. Bamboo Now! is committed to promoting sustainable bamboo harvesting practices around the world. |

Given the unique power of bamboo and the rising consumer demand for bamboo products, Bamboo Now! was established to help grow the bamboo market in a sustainable way.
